(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Joel Pineiro provided the offense and the pitching as the St. Louis Cardinals edged the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1.
Pineiro allowed a run on five hits over seven innings of work to improve to 8 and 9.
He also accounted for all of the Redbirds' offense with a two-run double off D-backs starter Yusmeiro Petit in the fourth inning.
Petit would take the loss to fall to 0 and 4.
Chad Tracy drove home the lone Arizona run with a run-scoring double in the fifth.
