Twins Pull Out 5-3 Win Over White Sox

(MINNEAPOLIS, MN) - Mark Buehrle followed up his perfect game by retiring the first 17 hitters he faced, but the Minnesota Twins eventually got to him to pull out a 5-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Buehrle set a major league record by retiring 45 batters in a row and held a 1-0 lead thanks to a Jermaine Dye home run.

Alexi Casilla ended the string by drawing a walk with two out in the sixth and scored on a double by Joe Mauer.

The twins got to Buehrle in the seventh, scoring four runs with Brendan Harris driving home the go-ahead run with an RBI single and Nick Punto following with a two-run single.

Gordon Beckham added a two-run single in the ninth for Chicago.

With the win, the twins pull into a second-place tie with the Sox in the ALl Central, two games behind first-place Detroit.
