(CINCINNATI, OH) - Jonny Gomes hit three home runs and Bronson Arroyo fired a complete-game two-hitter as the Cincinnati Reds blanked the Washington Nationals 7-0.
Gomes hit two-run homers off Nats starter Collin Balester in his first two at Bats and then nailed a solo shot off Jason Bergmann in his third trip to the plate, finishing with five runs batted in.
That was more than enough for Arroyo, who allowed singles to Adam Dunn in the second and Ryan Zimmerman in the seventh in evening his record at 11 and 11.
Ryan Hannigan added a solo homer for Cincinnati as the Reds sent Washington to its third-straight defeat.
