(JOLIET, IL) - Ryan Briscoe extended his IndyCar Series points lead with his pass of Scott Dixon at the finish line to win Saturday night’s race at Chicagoland Speedway.
Briscoe's outside pass allowed him to edge the defending series champion by 77 10-thousandths of a second, the fourth-closed finish in the history of the IndyCar Series.
Briscoe holds a 25-point lead over Dario Franchitti, who finished fourth at Chicagoland, and a 33-point edge over Dixon with two races remaining.
The series travels to Japan for a September 19th race at Twin Ring Motegi before the season finale October 10th at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
