(LOS ANGELES, CA) - Rookie Jake Fox homered and had a career-high four hits and Ryan Dempster pitched seven strong innings in the Chicago Cubs’ 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fox, a Beech Grove, Indiana native, went 4 for 4, hitting a solo homer off Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley in the second and an RBI single in the sixth.
Kosuke Fukudome added an RBI double in the sixth as the Cubs avoided a four-game series sweep.
Dempster allowed an unearned run on three hits to get the win, evening his record at 7 and 7.
Billingsley took the loss to fall to 12 and 7.
