(SONOMA, CA) - Dario Franchitti led wire-to-wire to win Sunday’s Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma at Infineon Raceway.
The front was a good place to be as a first lap accident sent several contenders, including Scott Dixon, to the back of the field early.
Ryan Briscoe finished second and takes over the points lead by four over Franchitti.
Dixon, who entered the race as the points leader, finished 13th and is 20 points off the pace.
Mike Conway was third with Mario Moraes and Hideki Mutoh rounding out the top five.
Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves saw his chances for winning his first IndyCar Series Championship take a major hit as his front suspension broke and he finished 17th.
