(TERRE HAUTE, IN) - Indiana State’s losing streak in football is up to 27 games as the Sycamores lost a 26-20 overtime heartbreaker to Quincy in the season opener.
ISU jumped out to a 17-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Hawks chipped away, tying the game on a one-yard dive by quarterback Sam Donatucci with 43 seconds left in regulation.
Quincy missed the potential game-winning extra point after the try was pushed back due to a false start.
The Sycamores failed to score on their possession in overtime when they lost the ball on a bad shotgun snap to quarterback Chris Stutziem.
Donatucci scored the game-winner for Quincy on another one-yard run for the Hawks' only lead of the game.
Indiana State hits the road to face Louisville a week from Saturday.
