(SEATTLE, WA) - Ken Griffey junior’s pinch-hit RBI single with two out in the bottom of the 14th inning gave the Seattle Mariners a 1-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Griffey lined a 1-2 pitch from Tony Pena off the right field wall to score Adrian Beltre from second base.
The game began as a pitching duel between the team's aces as Felix Hernandez took on Mark Buehrle.
Hernandez threw seven shutout innings, allowing six hits while striking out ten.
Buehrle went eight innings, also allowing six hits.
