(CHICAGO, IL) - Nelson Figueroa struck out a career-high ten batters as the New York Mets avoided a three-game series sweep in Chicago, defeating the Cubs 4-1.
Figueroa allowed a run on six hits over seven innings and had an RBI single in improving to 2 and 3.
Anderson Hernandez had an RBI triple with Daniel Murphy and Jeff Francoeur adding run-scoring singles for New York.
Aramis Ramirez drove home Chicago's lone run with an RBI single in the first.
Carlos Zambrano took the loss for Chicago, allowing three earned runs on eleven hits over three and-a-third innings of work to fall to 7 and 6.
