(KANSAS CITY, MO) - Zack Greinke recorded a franchise-record 15 strikeouts to lead the Kansas City Royals past the Cleveland Indians 6-2.
Mitch Maier hit a two-run home run, the first of his major league career, and Miguel Olivo added a solo shot as the Royals snapped a five-game losing streak.
Greinke allowed two runs on five hits over eight innings and broke Mark Gubicza's 21-year-old team record for strikeouts of 14.
Andy Marte hit a solo homer for Cleveland as the Indians had their three-game winning streak come to an end.
