(BROOKLYN, MI) - Brian Vickers picked up his first Sprint Cup win since 2006 and Red Bull Racing’s first victory ever with his win at Sunday’s Carfax 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
Vickers battled with Jimmie Johnson over the final laps before Johnson ran out of fuel with two laps remaining.
Jeff Gordon finished second with Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards and Sam Hornish junior rounding out the top five.
Points leader Tony Stewart came in 17th while Johnson dropped all the way to 33rd following his late pit stop.
With the win, Vickers jumps to 13th in points, twelve behind Mark Martin who currently holds the final spot for the chase for the Sprint Cup.
