(OAKLAND, CA) - Mark Ellis hit a walk-off solo home run with two out in the bottom of the ninth to edge the Chicago White Sox 3-2, avoiding a three-game series sweep.
Chicago took a 2-0 lead in the sixth when Scott Podsednik hit an RBI triple and Jim Thome followed with a sacrifice fly.
Ellis brought the A's to within a run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh and Scott Hairston tied the game in the eighth with an RBI double.
Bobby Jenks came in to pitch for the White Sox in the ninth and retired the first two batters on three pitches before Ellis hit a 1-0 pitch over the wall in left center to end the game.
