(CHICAGO, IL) - Jim Thome homered twice to back a strong outing by Gavin Floyd as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Los Angeles Angels 6-2.
Thome put Chicago on the scoreboard with a solo shot in the fourth inning and hammered a three-run blast in the sixth.
Jayson Nix added a go-ahead single in the fifth and Paul Konerko hit a solo homer in the eighth.
Floyd pitched eight innings, allowing a run on six hits to improve to 9 and 6.
With the win, Chicago remains a game behind first-place Detroit in the AL Central.
