(CINCINNATI, OH) - The Cincinnati Bengals placed tight end Ben Utecht on injured reserve, ending his season.
Utecht suffered a severe concussion in practice on August 5th and was taken off the field in an ambulance.
He has not been back to practice since. Utecht began his career with the Indianapolis Colts and was a member of the 2006 Super Bowl Championship team.
He joined the Bengals as a free agent last season.
Monday's move leaves Cincinnati short at a position that was already depleated by injury.
Starting tight end Reggie Kelly was lost for the season when he tore an Achilles' Tendon at the start of training camp.
