(PITTSBURGH, PA) - The Chicago Cubs scored seven runs in the top of the first inning en-route to a 9-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Aramis Ramirez hit a two-run single with Geovany Soto and Kosuke Fukudome adding two-run doubles in the first.
Micah Hoffpauir would add a solo home run in the fourth with pitcher Ryan Dempster closing out Chicago's scoring with an RBI single in the seventh.
Dempster went 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits to improve to 9 and 8.
Rookie Garret Jones hit a solo homer for Pittsburgh, his 19th of the season.
