(CHICAGO, IL) - Ted Lilly and Carlos Marmol combined on a five-hit shutout as the Chicago Cubs blanked the Houston Astros 2-0.
Lilly allowed four hits over eight innings, striking out five to improve to 10 and 8 as the lefthander reached the ten-win mark for the seventh consecutive season.
Derrek Lee provided the Chicago offense with a two-run homer off Houston starter Felipe Paulino in the fourth inning.
Paulino would allow just those two runs on four hits over six innings to fall to 2 and 7.
Aaron Boone played first base for Houston, going 0 for 3 in his first game in the majors since undergoing open-heart surgery in March.
