(PITTSBURGH, PI) - Carlos Zambrano picked up his first win since July 22nd as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-5 to complete a three-game series sweep.
Micah Hoffpauir hit a solo homer and drove in two for the Cubs who, despite the sweep, remain eleven and-a-half games behind St. Louis in the NL Central.
Zambrano allowed two runs on five hits, striking out eight over six innings to improve to 8 and 6.
Former Cub Ronny Cedeno hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning off Chicago's Kevin Gregg.
