(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - The Indiana Hoosiers opened their season with a 19-13 win over Eastern Kentucky at Memorial Stadium.
Ben Chappell completed 27 of 36 passes for a career-high 326 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions as IU built a 19-7 lead.
The Colonels would get a field goal late in the second quarter and another in the third quarter to draw to within six.
Eastern Kentucky got to the Indiana 40-yard-line late in the fourth quarter, but Nick Polk broke up TJ Pryor's desperation throw to the end zone to preserve the win.
The Hoosiers continue non-conference play a week from Saturday when they host western Michigan.
