(NEW YORK, NY) - Daniel Murphy homered, tripled and drove in all four New York runs as the Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-2.
Murphy opened the scoring with a solo shot off Cubs starter randy wells in the fourth.
Geovany Soto tied the game for Chicago with an RBI double in the fifth, but Murphy gave the Mets the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single.
Murphy capped his big day with a two-run triple off Kevin Gregg in the seventh.
Soto hit his second RBI double of the game in the ninth to account for Chicago's final run.
Mike Pelfrey allowed a run on five hits over eight innings to even his record at 10 and 10.
Wells gave up one earned run on seven hits over six innings and took the loss, falling to 10 and 8.
