(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Olympic gymnast Samantha Peszek has withdrawn her name from consideration for next month’s World Championships in London.
Instead, the McCordsville native will undergo shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum.
Peszek was one of ten gymnasts invited to a final selection camp in the Houston area at the end of this month.
The torn labrum prevented Peszek from competing in the all-around competition in last month's national championships.
She did finish second on the balance beam.
She was a member of the 2008 US Olympic team in Beijing that won the Silver Medal.
