(PITTSBURGH, PA) - Ryan Doumit and Garrett Jones hit RBI singles in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a 6-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Rick Ankiel had given the Redbirds a 5-4 lead when he hit a two-out solo home run off Pirates reliever Jesse Chavez.
Ryan Franklin came on to pitch the ninth for St. Louis.
Jason Jaramillo led off with a single, but was erased at second on a fielder's choice off the bat of Andy Laroche.
Andrew McCutchen followed with a single and was followed by Doumit, whose pinch-hit single drove home Laroche with the tying run.
Trever Miller relieved Franklin and Miller gave up the winning hit to Jones.
With the win, the Pirates avoided a three-game series sweep.
