(CHICAGO, IL) - AJ Pierzynski’s one out double in the bottom of the 13th scored Alexei Ramirez from first base as the Chicago White Sox edged the Oakland Athletics 4-3.
Ramirez had a pair of runs batted in and Scott Podsednik hit an RBI double as the Sox built a 3-1 lead after two.
Ryan Sweeney brought the A's to within a run with an RBI double in the third before Kurt Suzuki tied the game with a run-scoring single in the eighth.
That would be all of the offense until the 13th when Ramirez hit a one-out single and scored on Pierzynski's game-winner.
The Sox gain a split of the two-game series and now trail first-place Detroit by 6 1/2 games in the AL Central.
