(SANTA CLARA, CA) - The San Francisco 49ers will have a new starting quarterback this weekend when they face the Colts.
Alex Smith led San Francisco to all three of their touchdowns in Sunday's loss to the Texans after replacing Sean Hill at halftime.
49ers Head Coach Mike Singletary announced Monday that Smith will get the start at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Smith was the number-one overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft, but he has been a disappointment in his career so far.
Before Sunday's game in Houston, Smith had not seen action in a regular season game since 2007.
