(ST. LOUIS, MO) - St. Louis Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa will be back for a 15th season with the team in 2010.
La Russa announced his return at a news conference on Monday and has agreed to a one-year deal.
La Russa also announced that Mark McGwire will return to the Cardinals as the team's Hitting Coach.
McGwire retired in 2001 and has been almost invisible since appearing before a Congrssional committee on performance enhancing drugs in 2005.
McGwire hit a then-record 70 home runs in 1998 and retired with 583 homers and a .263 career batting average.
He replaces Hal McRae, who is the only Redbirds coach who will not return next season.
