(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Fever are one victory away from the first WNBA Championship in franchise history after edging the Phoenix Mercury 86-85 in game three of the finals.
The Fever lead the best-of-five series two games to one. Ebony Hoffman's jumper with just under one minute remaining gave Indiana a one-point lead.
Hoffman then blocked Tangela Smith's jumper as time expired to give the fever the win.
Hoffman scored a team-high 18 points with Briann January adding 17 off the bench.
Katie Douglas finished with 15 points with Tamika Catchings recording a double-double with 14 points and twelve rebounds.
Cappie Pondexter led Phoenix with 23 points with Diana Taurasi adding 18.
Game four is Wednesday night in Indianapolis.
Game five, if necessary would be played in Phoenix on Friday night.
