(LOS ANGELES, CA) - Pinch hitter Mark Loretta delivered the game-winning single with two out in the bottom of the ninth to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in game two of their National League Division Series.
The Dodgers lead the best of five series two games to none. St. Louis entered the ninth inning with a 2-1 lead with Trevor Miller and Ryan Franklin retiring the first two Dodger hitters in the inning.
James Loney reached second when Matt Holliday dropped his line drive for a two-base error.
Following a walk to Casey Blake, Ronnie Belliard singled to drive home pinch runner Juan Pierre with the tying run.
A walk to Russell Martin brought Loretta to the plate, who drove the first pitch he saw from Franklin into centerfield for the game-winner.
