(FONTANA, CA) - Jimmie Johnson, trying to win a record fourth consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship, endured a 22 minute red flag delay with six laps remaining, before holding off teammate Jeff Gordon en route to his fourth career win at Auto Club Speedway.
By winning Sunday's Pepsi 500 in Fontana, the California native took control of the NASCAR point standings.
Juan Pablo Montoya was third, previous points leader Mark Martin fell 12 behinds behind Johnson by finishing fourth in the race.
Tony Stewart rounded out the top five.
