(MARTINSVILLE, VA) - Denny Hamlin won the race but Jimmie Johnson solidified his Sprint Cup points lead at Sunday’s tums Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia.
Hamlin led 206 of the 501 laps in picking up his third win of the season.
Johnson finished second with Juan Pablo Montoya, Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon rounding out the top five.
With four races remaining, Johnson holds a 118-point lead over Mark Martin with Gordon in third, 150 points behind.
Johnson, Martin and Gordon are teammates with Hendrick Motorsports.
Should Johnson claim the championship, he would be the first driver in the history of NASCAR's Top Series to win the title four years in a row.
The Sprint Cup Series races at Talladega this Sunday.
