(JASPER, IN) - The Castle Knights have won a state championship in other sports, but never before in boys’ tennis.
Monday night, Craig Bottrof's team got one step closer to a "first" for the Newburgh School.
The Knights defeated Terre Haute North 3-2 Monday in Jasper to reach the Boys State Tennis Finals for the first time in school history.
With the regional finals' match knotted at two apiece, Castle's number one singles player Brandon Davis won a second set tie-breaker over Nick Robey 6-2, 7-6.
With the win, Castle advances to face center grove Friday afternoon at Indianapolis North Central in the state quarterfinals.
The winner will face the winner of Elkhart Concord and Park Tudor.
