(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - NASCAR announced Wednesday that they would standardize the start times for Sprint Cup races during the 2010 season.
East coast races will begin around 1:00PM Eastern Time, west coast races around 3:00PM eastern and night races around 7:30PM eastern.
Actual green flag times will be 15 to 20 minutes after the listed start time.
This means that next year's Brickyard 400 will have a 1:00PM eastern starting time.
For the past few years, the annual Sprint Cup Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has started a little after 2:15PM.
Next year's Brickyard 400 is scheduled for July 25th.
IMS officials are also reportedly weighing moving up the start time for the Indianapolis 500, which traditionally started at 11:00PM eastern time but has started at 1:00PM the past three years.
A start time of noon is reportedly being considered.
