(SOUTH BEND, IN) - The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame close out the home portion of their 2009 schedule Saturday when they host the Connecticut Huskies.
The Irish are 6-4 and are coming off back-to-back losses to Navy and Pittsburgh and are bowl eligible, but their hopes for a BCS bowl berth are now gone.
The Huskies are 4-5 and are riding a three-game losing streak. U-Conn needs to win two of their final three games to become bowl eligible.
This will be the first game between Notre Dame and Connecticut in football.
Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick says he plans to decide the future of football coach Charlie Weis within days of the end of the season.
Swarbrick says he met with Weis three days after the end of the regular season last year and said that the timing for this year's decision would be similar.
Notre Dame's regular season ends November 28th at Stanford.
The team is bowl eligible, and will probably be playing again in late December or early January.
Weis has gone 35-25 in five seasons at Notre Dame.
