(FORT WORTH, TX) - Kurt Busch picked up the win at Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway, but Mark Martin made the Chase for the Sprint Cup a race again.
Kurt Busch passed his brother Kyle with two and a half laps remaining when the younger Busch ran out of fuel after leading 232 laps.
Kyle Busch would wind up eleventh. Denny Hamlin came in second with Matt Kenseth third, Martin fourth and Kevin Harvick fifth.
Martin trailed points leader Jimmie Johnson by 184 points entering the weekend.
Johnson was involved in an accident with Sam Hornish Jr. on the third lap of the race and finished 38th.
Martin carved 111 points out of Johnson's lead and now trails the three-time defending cup champion by just 73 points with two races remaining.
The Series heads to Phoenix this weekend for the Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500.
