(NEW YORK, NY) - A reported meeting scheduled for Tuesday between University of Cincinnati Football Coach Brian Kelly and Notre Dame officials did not take place.
Kelly posted that no meeting took place via his Twitter account Tuesday.
Kelly and Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick were In New York City yesterday attending the National Football Foundation's College Hall of Fame banquet at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
Kelly informed his players at Cincinnati on Monday that he would meet with Notre Dame officials.
He tweeted Monday that the meeting could take place Tuesday in New York.
While no formal interview has taken place, Kelly is widely believed to be the frontrunner to replace Charlie Weis in South Bend.
The Bearcats are 12-0 and will face Florida in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.
Weis was fired after going 6-6 with the Fighting Irish this season.
The Chicago Tribune reports that if Kelly takes the Notre Dame job, he would not coach Cincinnati in New Orleans.
The Tribune says defensive backs coach Kerry Coombs would likely be the Bearcats' interim head coach for the Sugar Bowl.
