(CARBONDALE, IL) - The Indiana State Sycamores had their three-game winning streak snapped as they lost at Southern Illinois 70-52 in their Missouri Valley Conference opener.
The Sycamores had a two-point lead at halftime and were ahead by three with 15 minutes remaining when they went scoreless for more than five and a half minutes as the Salukis took command with a 14-0 run.
Tony Freeman led Southern Illinois with 19 points with Justin Bocot finishing with 14 and Nick Evans adding eleven as the Salukis won their fifth game in a row to improve to 8-2.
Dwayne Lathan led ISU with eleven points with Harry Marshall adding ten as the Sycamores fall to 8-4.
Indiana State hosts Creighton on New Year's day.
