(BIRMINGHAM, AL) - Two days of open testing for the Izod IndyCar Series drivers gets underway today at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham.
The first three-hour practice session is scheduled to get underway this morning with a four-hour practice scheduled for this afternoon.
Two more practices are scheduled for Thursday. Nineteen drivers are scheduled to test while three additional cars without assigned drivers are also on the participant list.
The drivers scheduled to participate include current series champion Dario Franchitti and his Target-Ganassi teammate Scott Dixon, Team Penske's Helio Castroneves, Ryan Briscoe and Will Power, and Andretti Autosport's Danica Patrick, Tony Kanaan and Marco Andretti.
The Barber Motorsports Park course has 17 turns and is 2.38 miles in length.
The 2010 Izod IndyCar Series opens the season March 14th at Sao Paulo, Brazil.
