(LAS VEGAS, NV) - Jimmie Johnson passed Jeff Gordon with 17 laps remaining and pulled away to win Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Gordon led 218 of the 267 laps, but took just two tires on his final pit stop and could not hold off his teammate Johnson, who took four tires on his final trip to the pits en route to his second-straight race win.
Kevin Harvick got past Gordon late to finish second and maintain the points lead by 47 over Clint Bowyer.
Gordon finished third with Mark Martin and Matt Kenseth rounding out the top five.
