(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Northwestern Wildcats shut Indiana down in the second half and eliminated the Hoosiers 73-58 in the first round of the Big Ten men’s basketball tournament.
IU led by three at intermission and extended their advantage to seven at one point in the second half, but the Wildcats used a 10-0 run to take the lead for good.
Michael Thompson scored 13 of his team-high 16 points in the second half with john Shurna finishing with 14 points and Jeremy Nash adding 13 as Northwestern improves to 20-12.
Verdell Jones led the Hoosiers with a game-high 20 points with Derek Elston contributing ten points and nine rebounds as Indiana ends its season at 10-21.
