(LOS ANGELES, CA) - The Los Angeles Lakers outscored Indiana 38 to 17 in the third quarter as the defending NBA Champions pulled away to a 122-99 win over the Pacers in Los Angeles.
Indiana kept the game close for a half with Kobe Bryant hitting a 21-foot fade away at the horn to give LA a 60-54 lead at intermission.
The Pacers cut the lead to one at 62-61 early in the third when the Lakers exploded, going on a 36-10 run to close out the quarter and take 98-71 lead to the fourth period.
Bryant scored a game-high 24 points, hitting 14 of his 15 free throw attempts as the Lakers won their third game in a row.
Jordan Farmar finished with 19 points while Pau Gasol had a double-double of 14 points and 16 rebounds.
Troy Murphy led Indiana with 17 points and 13 boards with Josh McRoberts adding a career-high 15 points as the Pacers lose for the eighth time in their last ten games to fall to 20-40 on the season.
The western trip continues tonight in Portland as the Pacers face the Trail Blazers. The Blazers beat Indiana 102-91 December 9th in Indianapolis.
