(CHICAGO, IL) - Mark Buehrle threw seven shutout innings as the Chicago White Sox opened their season with a 6-0 victory over the Cleveland Indians at US Cellular Field.
Paul Konerko gave Buehrle all the run support he would need in the first when he hammered a two-run home run off Cleveland starter and loser Jake Westbrook.
Alex Rios would add a solo shot in the eighth for the White Sox. Buehrle allowed three hits, striking out three and walking one to pick up the win.
JJ Putz and Matt Thornton threw an inning each to complete the four-hit shutout.
