(UNDATED) - The Indianapolis Colts open a three-day rookie mini-camp on Friday at the team’s Westside Indianapolis headquarters.
It will be the first time that head coach Jim Caldwell and the Colts staff will get a chance to work with the team's eight draft choices and eleven rookie free agent signees.
The Colts usually use their rookie camp to get the new players acclimated to life in the National Football League and what will be expected of them.
There normally is some on-field work, but performance on the field will not be emphasized this weekend.
With NFL rookie mini-camps getting underway on Friday, a pair of hopefuls from Indiana schools will be getting chances to make teams as undrafted free agents.
The St. Louis Rams have signed former Bishop Chatard High School and University of Indianapolis offensive lineman Tim Dury.
The New York Giants will be giving 33-year-old former Ball State defensive end Brandon Crawford a shot to make their team.
Crawford spent four years in the marine corps before joining the Cardinals, where he was one of the leaders on defense.
