(CINCINNATI, OH) - Albert Pujols hit two of St. Louis’ opening day-record four home runs as the Cardinals knocked off the Cincinnati Reds 11-6.
Pujols hit a two-out solo shot off Reds starter Aaron Harang in the top of the first and added a two-run shot off Mike Lincoln in the seventh.
Colby Rasmus hit a solo homer off Harang in the fourth and Yadier Molina capped the scoring for the Redbirds with a grand slam off Nick Masset in the eighth.
Chris Carpenter gave up a pair of solo homers to Joey Votto and Scott Rolen in the fourth inning and not much else as he surrendered five hits over six innings to get the win.
