(CHICAGO, IL) - James Shields pitched seven strong innings and the Tampa Bay offense erupted again as the Rays pounded the Chicago White Sox 10-2.
Carlos Pena drove in four runs with Pat Burrell, Carl Crawford and Reid Brignac collecting two RBI apiece for Tampa Bay.
Shields allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits to improve to 4-0.
Chicago Starter Jake Peavy took the loss to fall to 0-1.
Peavy allowed seven runs on seven hits and walked seven in just four and-a-third innings of work.
Mark Teahen hit a solo homer for the Sox, who dropped two of three and were outscored 23-to-6 in the series.
