(HOUSTON, TX) - Rookie Mike Leake was impressive in picking up his second major league win as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Houston Astros 6-4.
Leake pitched seven innings, allowing a run on five hits to improve to 2-0.
Scott Rolen drove in a pair of runs and Joey Votto had an RBI triple, but the key play of the game came in the fourth inning when Astros Right Fielder Hunter Pence dropped Brandon Phillips' fly ball to right center allowing three unearned runs to score.
Houston drew close by scoring three runs in the ninth, two coming on Lance Berkman's second home run of the season, but Francisco Cordero worked out of the jam to pick up the save.
The Reds have won three in a row to move past Chicago into second place in the NL Central.
