(ST. LOUIS, MO) - The St. Louis Cardinals took advantage of Cincinnati’s misfortune in Atlanta to regain first place in the NL Central with a 4-2 win over the Florida Marlins.
Adam Wainwright went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits to improve to 6-2.
Florida jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by Hanley Ramirez and a sacrifice fly from Dan Uggla.
David Freese hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first to pull the cardinals to within a run.
St. Louis capped the scoring with three runs in the second.
Ryan Ludwick tied the game with an RBI double and Matt Holliday followed with a two-run double.
The win combined with Cincinnati losing a six-run lead in the ninth and falling to the Braves gives St. Louis a half-game lead over the Reds in the Central Division.
