(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Jeff Keppinger and Lance Berkman struck the key blows in houston’s five-run fourth inning as the Astros held on to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-6.
Keppinger broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run double off St. Louis starter Kyle Lohse.
Berkman followed with a two-run homer, his fourth of the season.
Houston would increase the lead to 9-1 before the Cardinals scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth with Albert Pujols and David Freese hitting run-scoring doubles.
The win was the Astros third in a row as they have taken the first two games in the series.
The Redbirds' lead over Cincinnati in the NL Central is down to one game as they have lost six of their last eight games.
