(UNDATED) - A race through the streets of Baltimore is expected to be added to the Izod IndyCar Series schedule beginning in 2011.
Baltimore officials approved a contract on Wednesday that would have the series race through the city streets for five years.
Baltimore has approved using 7.75 million dollars in state and federal grants to make the necessary improvements to the roads that the race cars will run on.
The Indy Racing League is expected to sign a sanctioning agreement later this month with the inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix expected to take place in August of 2011.
