(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Tony Kanaan was fastest in an abbreviated day of practice Thursday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Kanaan lapped the two and-a-half-mile oval at 226.775 miles per hour.
Paul Tracy, who struggled earlier in the week to find speed, got a tow from Kanaan to come in second on the speed chart at 226.322.
Hideki Mutoh, Marco Andretti, Dan Wheldon and Helio Castroneves also turned in laps above the 226 mile-an-hour mark.
There were 37 car-driver combinations on the track Thursday turning 1,445 laps.
