(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Adam Wainwright and two relievers combined on a six-hit shutout as the St. Louis Cardinals blanked the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-0.
Albert Pujols had a big night at the plate, hitting a pair of two-run homers and driving in five.
Wainwright pitched into the seventh, allowing five hits while driving in a run with a single in the fifth to improve to 11-5.
The win combined with Cincinnati's loss to Philadelphia earlier in the evening gives the Cardinals a half-game lead over the Reds in the NL Central.
Dontrelle Willis took the loss for the D-backs to fall to 2-3.
