(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Izod IndyCar Series driver Mike Conway underwent surgery to repair fractures to his lower left leg on Sunday night.
Conway was injured in a scary accident with Ryan Hunter-Reay at the end of Sunday's Indianapolis 500.
Indy Racing League Director of Medical Services Doctor Michael Olinger says that Conway also suffered a soft tissue injury to his lower left leg and a compression fracture of one of his thoracic vertebrae.
He will need to wear a back brace for that injury for three months which will prevent him from racing.
Hunter-Reay was scheduled to have surgery Monday on his left thumb.
He will be fitted with a carbon fiber splint which will allow him to drive this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.
