(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Izod IndyCar Series driver Simona De Silvestro has been cleared to resume racing activities by Indy Racing League medical personnel.
The reigning Indianapolis 500 rookie of the year suffered a minor burn on her right hand in a fiery accident during last Saturday night's race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Series officials are looking into why a fire hose on the safety truck malfunctioned, forcing rescue workers to use backup bottles to put out the fire in De Silvestro's car.
De Silvestro had to be pulled from her burning car by the rescue workers.
